Sleep Apnea Help
Sleep Apnea is a very intrusive and destructive condition suffered by a large portion of the world's population.
This condition intrudes on your everyday life and activities. You can no longer do the things that you used to do with ease.
Not only does it rob you of valuable rest at night. It also robs your brain of some of its oxygenation, making clear and decisive thought patterns more and more difficult as time goes on.
This website is aimed at delivering as much information on sleep disorders as possible, so that those suffering will be able to make an informed choice as to what treatment they might be interested in.
There are numerous treatments, as well as aids available to all types of sleep disorder sufferers and we will be discussing them on the relevant pages of this site.
A large number of people are not aware that they suffer from one of these debilitating conditions, in fact it is quite likely that your family will notice that something is wrong long before you do.
This was the case with myself, I suffer from obstructive sleep apnea. I used to be woken up by a jab in the side with the command “Breathe” as I had woken my husband up with my subconscious efforts to get air into my lungs.
Sleep disorders can affect people of all ages, from small babies to geriatrics. However there are a number of things that you can do to minimize the dangers involved and believe me there are very serious dangers.
Weight control is an important aspect of helping yourself. Obese people are far more likely to have sleeping problems than anyone else.
Exercise and diet are also important, not only for sleep apnea control, but for your overall health, the healthier your lifestyle is the less likely you are to ever be troubled by sleep disorders.

Definition of sleep apnea
" Sleep Apnea (Apnoea), also known as Sleep-Disordered breathing, is a serious sleep disorder that is recognised by one's breathing being interrupted during sleep. If this condition is untreated, patients stop breathing repeatedly during sleep, sometimes hundreds of times, resulting in insufficient rest and consequently tiredness and fatigue, and this gives rise to other medical problems.
There are two distinct types of sleep apnea.
1) Obstructive Sleep Apnea, caused by soft tissue in the back of the throat collapsing and blocking the airway during sleep,
2) Central Sleep Apnea, when the brain doesn't signal the muscles to breathe because of instability in the respiratory control center."
